                                    - Revolutionary Chemicals Spraying System and Equipment

Billinton group's scientists and engineers have applied the electrostatic technology into crops protection field which is greatly related to human beings' lives. 

Millions of tons of chemicals are sprayed annually in the world for crops protection, about one million tons of which are used in China. However, crops protection devices are still old-fashioned and use traditional technologies especially in developing countries, which implements old spraying concepts of high volume of liquids, low concentration of chemicals, raining-like, and full coverage of plants, and of utilization of highly toxic pesticides. This causes serious residues of chemicals on agricultural products, and in the soil, water and air. Poor quality of spraying equipment, spraying technologies and methods are responsible for excessive pesticide usage, excessive pesticide residues on agricultural products, and for the causes of environmental pollution.  

Sprayers are utilizing water droplets or liquid droplets to cover insects on the plants and eventually kill the insects, or cover objects with a good coating. Therefore the design's aim of the spraying devices is how to optimize the droplet production and to make the droplets attach themselves to objects. When droplets decrease to half their size, eight times the number of droplets will be generated with the same amount of water or liquids. When a large number of droplets in this small size are generated and sprayed, the result will be an excellent coverage on the desired objects. 

A new concept of high concentration of chemicals, ultra low volume, fine spraying droplets, less spray drift for crops protection has been aimed with use of electrostatic technology. Two sorts of atomizing methods, i.e. pneumatic and centrifugal, combined with induction charging for spraying chemicals for crops and plants protection, have been developed. Various spraying devices have been developed and manufactured for different kinds of crops, plants, places and situations, which can cover almost all types of traditional agricultural chemicals spraying devices. These are: 

  • Backpack sprayer with rotary discs
  • Electric and gasoline driven sprayer
  • Truck mounted sprayer
  • Boom or row crop sprayer 

We do not use those charging mechanisms such as corona and contact as they normally require high voltages >20,000volts to charge droplets, which are certainly not safe to operators of the spraying devices. Our spraying devices and systems just apply 1,000-3,000volts, producing much higher charge levels or charge-to-mass ratios of the spray than those charging mechanisms of contact and corona, with small droplet sizes of 40~100mm. Unlike drifting of small uncharged droplets these highly charged small droplets will be electrically attracted to the leaves and surfaces of plants, and even reverse direction and move upwards against gravity to coat undersides of leaves, stems and other parts of plants. Air turbulence due to pressed air will assure the spray reaches the hidden areas, go deep into the inner regions of the plant and deposit on all surfaces of the plant. This will save 30-60% of chemicals and 50-70% of water consumption, still with a very good coverage on the leaves and surfaces of crops and plants. Environmental benefits include reduction of chemical waste and the improved results from low-toxicity chemicals. Risks for workers exposure to chemicals are greatly eliminated since the frequency of tank filling is much less than conventional sprayers. 

Along with the crops protection, and freshness protection of fruits, our electrostatic spraying devices and systems can also be used in other areas such as epidemic prevention and sterilization, surface coating and rust protection.
