Fully automatic elutriated magnetic separator has the following special features which are beneficial to those magnetite developers:

Desilication: realization of almost complete separation of gangue from the magnetic iron ore

In the separation cylinder, a continuous background magnetic field exists from the bottom towards the top. When iron ore particles enter this separating cylinder, magnetic iron particles will be forming magnetic particle chains, suspending in the cylinder. Magnetic iron particles will then become iron concentrates under the interaction of magnetic force downwards, gravity of the particles and uprising force of the ascending water. Gangue without magnetism will float out around the magnetic particle chains and almost all of the gangue will then be washed out.

Concentrate grade improvement: separation of intergrowths according to Fe contents

Those low Fe graded intergrowths mixing into magnetic particle chains are under the action of cutting-off by the spiral rising water from the horizontal direction. The chains in which there are intergrowth particles of low Fe contents would be likely to be broken. Those intergrowths will be coming out after the chains are broken and then be washed out together with gangue. The broken magnetic chains will be reformed under the action of magnetic field and the chains go downwards and form iron concentrates in the bottom of the equipment.

Controllability: adjusting Fe grades and product yields at any time during operation

From the monitor screen, the operator can adjust the strength of the magnetic fields to separate those intergrowths of low Fe grades precisely so as to realize an improved concentrate grade or adjustment of the productivity. This equipment uses an automatic control system which copes with such as water pressure, underflow slurry density, magnetic field strength, overflow discharge and a multiple impulse system. When in operation, the operator is just simply turning on and off the machine. It will automatically identify various types of working conditions, start the emergency procedure and make sure a sound automatic working condition. 

Large scale equipment: breaking through technical shortcomings of the similar equipment in the market with a small handling capacity, an uneven material distribution in the separating zone and an unstable operation performance 

The application of patented magnetic suspension technology overcomes the problems which the toroidal magnetic field in traditional magnetic separators cannot solve and also other problems caused due to their small sizes. Equipped with the patented technology, fully elutriated magnetic separators make it possible to be scaled up to larger size of industrial electromagnetic separators. The ore handling capacity with the largest size of machine in operation currently reaches to over 150 tons per hour. Theoretically, even bigger elutriated magnetic separator could be designed and manufactured. We manufacture a series of electromagnetic separators with the ore handling capacity ranging from 10 tons to 150 tons per hour. Customers need to choose only one model for each production stage from our product series rather than many small sizes of electromagnetic separators as applied before from other manufacturing companies. Using a single unit with a large capacity rather than many small machines with a small capacity can thoroughly solve the problem of an uneven material distribution in the separation zone. A much bigger separating space minimizes the system instability caused by the fluctuation of ore feeding rate. When ore feeding rate fluctuates among ±60%, our equipment can still handle and function well.

Working incorporated with high frequency screen or hydrocyclone to achieve a perfect combination of cleaner separation of magnetic iron ore

A high frequency vibrating screen and a hydrocyclone both classify particles according to the sizes of the particles while an elutriated magnetic separator classifies particles in terms of their Fe grades. When those two are working together, they can make up for shortcomings of each other. Under an ideal condition of iron grains liberation, concentrate grade will normally increase by 4-26%Fe, and TFe grade of the final concentrate in the general process is raised by 2-9%Fe.

Simplifying beneficiation process: elutriated magnetic separator is capable of directly replacing various types of traditional magnetic separators in cleaner separation stage of magnetite concentrates 

Successful renovation of dozens of process flowsheets of Processing Plants like Miaogou Mine of Tangshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd and Ekou Mine of TISCO proves that elutriated magnetic separator can directly replace various types of traditional magnetic separation equipment in cleaner separation stage of the process flowsheet and the production indicator is even higher than that of “Davis Tube” obtained under laboratory conditions. By applying this equipment, the general process flowsheet is shortened and the number of magnetic separators in the process is reduced as well. Meanwhile, it also saves power and spaces. 

Water conservation: water-saving design

By increasing the radius of the water supply pipe and reducing the radius of the overflow gate, water pressure is raised so as to greatly decrease the water usage. Compared to similar products from other companies, its water usage is only half (relative figures). In the water-deficient areas, the equipment can be fed directly from hydrocyclone or high frequency screen so as to save water. The tailing water from the overflow could be used as supply water for other mineral processing equipment.

Computerized remote control

A Siemens PLC programmed controller is equipped to achieve a remote data transfer and a centralized control as well. In the main control room, operator can monitor many elutriated magnetic separators via computers remotely.
